Loom

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 1, 2026

Loom is built to be private by default. Your notes live on your device. We do not read them, sell them, or send them anywhere.

Made with Best Practice LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Loom mobile application (the "App"). This page explains what data is collected when you use Loom, why, and what choices you have.

1. What We Collect

Notes and content

Your notes are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We do not have access to the content of your notes at any time.

Device identifier

Loom generates a random device identifier stored securely on your device. This identifier is used solely for anonymous crash reporting and is never linked to your identity.

Crash and diagnostic data

If the app crashes, we collect anonymized crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics. These reports include device type, operating system version, and a stack trace. They do not include your notes or any personally identifiable information. Crash collection is disabled in debug builds.

Usage analytics

We collect anonymized usage data through Firebase Analytics — events such as app opens and session duration — to understand how the app is used and improve it. No note content is ever included. Analytics collection is disabled in debug builds.

2. Permissions

Loom requests the following permissions to function:

3. How We Use Data

The limited data we collect is used only to:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating and improving Loom.

4. Third-Party Services

Loom uses the following third-party services, each subject to their own privacy policies:

These services do not have access to your notes.

5. Data Retention

Your notes remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Anonymized crash and analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention policies. We do not store any personal data on our own servers.

6. Security

Notes are stored using encrypted local storage on your device. Crash reports are transmitted over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we apply reasonable measures to protect the data we do handle.

7. Children's Privacy

Loom is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, please contact us.

8. Your Rights

Because your notes never leave your device, you have full control over them at all times — edit, export, or delete them within the app. For anonymized crash and analytics data held by Firebase, you may contact us and we will assist where possible. Depending on your location, you may also have rights under applicable privacy law including access, correction, and deletion.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
